Ouachita River Whitewater Park

The Arkansas Canoe Club is working with the Ouachita River Park Commission and City of Malvern to improve the recreation opportunities at the Ouachita River near Malvern.  A River Park has been established near the upper ledge above Interstate 30 with the construction of a boat ramp and short riverside trail.  

 

Whitewater Improvements

The City has contracted with Crist Engineers is association with Recreational Engineering and Planning (REP) to design the river enhancements for the Tanner Street Bridge area (the lower ledge project).  The plan drawings are scheduled to be completed in Summer 2006.

This is the first phase of the proposed river enhancements* and a portion of the overall proposed park improvements which include: trails, restrooms, pavillion, green space, etc.

*A 404 permit application to conduct the stream enhancements for the entire park area (upper ledge to the lower ledge) has been approved by the USCOE Vicksburg District.
